Learn about medical school admissions from Upgrade tutors who have successfully applied to medical schools abroad.
There are 72 dental schools in the United States, and each one has different values, such as outreach and clinical research, so it's important to find the right fit for you. There's no ranking system, so it's hard to tell which dental schools are better or worse.
The trend is that most schools require a high GPA. In particular, a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher is required, and science GPA and BCP GPA are also important.
I would recommend shadowing as early as possible, preferably as early as freshman year. Shadowing is an activity where you watch a dentist work from the sidelines to get a feel for what they do, and you should have about 100 hours of it. It's also important to have long-term experience with the dental system, and I would recommend planning ahead for activities that can help you.
